 My name is Richard Cantor and I've been involved in the metal crafts my entire life. I have had the good fortune to work along side of a number of experienced artists, sculptors, tinsmiths, metal spinners, machinists, welders and metal fabricators in a career that has spanned almost 40
years. These people passed a wealth of knowledge in the tradition of learning first by observation, and then 'by doing'.
Raised by an artist and professional stone sculptor mother and a cabinetmaker become builder father, I learned the importance of balancing form and function. Though one may take precedance over the other at times, the best designs strike a 'proper tension' between the two. A talented artist and designer in her own right, my wife Jill is a valued partner in Cantor Designs serving both as a source and 'sounding board' for well balanced design ideas.
