Here, the annealed shell is burnished against the mandrel with the compound tool.  Then it is spun nearly to completion with a friction point tool made of bronze.  Friction point tools do not have the leverage of compound tools and require more physical strength on the part of the metal spinner.  They also enable greater details such as lines and creases to be created.  With the top flange almost layer down it is ‘trued up’ and trimmed and deburred using a cutting tool.  After this step a very localized annealing of the very edge of the shell is completed before the next step.
